Peter Jay DiGiovanni, 61, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, the city where he was born, raised and spent most of his life. Born on June 23, 1964, Pete grew up surrounded by close family and many many friends. He always said that he was the luckiest guy in the world! He shared a close bond with his family throughout his life. Raised by loving parents who instilled strong values, his connection with his siblings remained strong over the years—a testament to the enduring ties of family. Pete was never without a story of growing up and the good times he had. Memories of his childhood were precious to him. Pete attended grammar school at St. Francis Borgia and graduated from Steinmetz High School. It was there he formed many friendships that last to this day. And many many memories of great times that live on in those friends. After high school, Pete began working at ADP - a job that not only began his professional journey but also introduced him to Jill, the love of his life. Pete's career path eventually led him into logistics, where he spent many years working at Danzas and DBSchenker. Known for his honesty and strong work ethic, Pete approached every job with integrity and commitment. All along the way, he built many lasting friendships and earned respect and admiration from his friends and colleagues. Whether at work or in his personal life, Pete had a gift for connection - he made many friends, each one touched by his warmth and humor. Pete's life was never just about work - it was about living fully and passionately. Known for his boundless energy and infectious spirit, Pete lived by a simple motto: “Have a good time..all the time.” From his earliest days through adulthood, he embraced life with enthusiasm and was always at the heart of every gathering—often stirring up a little mischief and a lot of laughter. His vibrant spirit and zest for living left a lasting impression on those around him. A lifelong music lover, Pete was a drummer in a rock and roll band with his best friends from school days, who shared his love of music. Music wasn't just a hobby - it was part of who Pete was. His passion for rhythm never left him; music remained a constant companion throughout his life. Whether it was pounding on his drums or simply listening to his favorite tunes at home, music was part of Pete's soul. Pete had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life: walking through the woods with his beloved dog Fred, watching horror movies on Friday and Saturday nights, or just hanging around his backyard in Norridge with those he loved the most. He cherished his life with what he fondly called "his pack" - his wife Jill and their dog Fred - finding joy in their everyday routines and quiet moments together. Pete also enjoyed watching sports - proudly noting that he had lived to see all of Chicago's major teams win their championships. Pete's sense of humor lit up every gathering; he was always joking, always laughing, always smiling - a man with a huge spirit who filled every space he entered. Known for "harassing those he loved," Pete's teasing came from a place of deep affection. He brought joy, laughter, and a unique spark to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Friends remember him for his smile, his quick wit, and above all else, his kindness. And there was only one Pete!! Pete is survived by his wife Jill and their dog Fred; his brother Mike and family; sisters Diane and Jayne and families; father-in-law Len; sisters-in-law Karin and Lisa and families; and an extraordinary circle of friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him. Pete now joins those who passed before him; his parents Jay and Micky; mother-in-law Marilyn; beloved dogs Misty and Chester; turtle Peeve; and way way too many dear friends who went ahead to wait for him. Pete believed there was something greater than us all - and found comfort in knowing that those he loved would be waiting for him when it was time. Pete’s legacy is one of fun, spontaneity, and unforgettable moments. Whether sharing stories or lighting up a room with his humor, he made people laugh. Pete was - a kind soul, a great friend, a devoted husband and dog dad... and just a great guy whose memory will live on in every beat of music played, every laugh shared among friends, every walk through the woods with a loyal companion by your side. May Pete's memory bring comfort and smiles to all who knew him - and may we all carry forward a bit of his humor, honesty, energy, and love for a life well-lived.
