February 8, 1965 - March 8, 2019
Susan (Izzo) Novak, the beloved mother of Joseph, Lea, Timothy, and Alexandria, passed away suddenly on March 8, 2019. Born on February 8, 1965 to Henry and Loretta Izzo, she is survived by one brother and sister, Henry and Lorelei. She had been married to Timothy J. Novak and had four children and two grandchildren (Joseph Jr. and Cooper). A letter to our mother: Our mother Sue was always there for us. She took her role as a mother and grandmother very seriously. She may not have had all the material things and gifts for us but when we needed love, nurturing, or just someone to talk to, she was always there no matter what. She was proud of us. She always kept hundreds of photos of us whether they were kept in several boxes in her apartment or on her phone and in the daily Facebook posts showing her love for her children each and every day. Friends of hers would always be excited to meet us and knew more about us than we knew about ourselves. To her, we were the best children in the world. Generous, kind, loving, sweet, intelligent, funny, outgoing, energetic, selfless, unique, and brave. These are only some of the words to describe her but most of all, she knew how to have fun. There was never a dull moment at the Novak house. Our mother loved having gatherings and holidays at our place and cook for everyone even trying to outcook her daughter’s boyfriend Aaron, who is, by the way, a chef. Her love for rock music rubbed off on us at an early age and we enjoyed going to concerts or singing together in the car. Especially when we could sing in our Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell voices, which was quite often. When we were all in the same room, there were bound to be several funny things said or memories made. But she was not only “Ma” to us, she had been known by many of our friends as mom as well and she was proud of this. She loved being there for us and being there for our friends, when they needed a shoulder to lean on or just someone to talk to. She will be missed by many of our friends as well. We would like to thank our mom. Thank you for the countless mornings of trying to wake up four children and get them to school on time, even though Joe could sleep through his radio on full blast. Thank you for helping us with our homework and driving us to school, even though sometimes we only lived 2-3 blocks away. Thank you for coming to all of our football and cheerleading events and being our biggest fan. Thank you for putting up with us when we were angry at you and dad and may have said and done things we regret. Thank you for teaching us how to grow older, have fun, and not take life so seriously. Thank you for teaching us how to be a good friend and caring for others. Thank you for raising four successful and happy children and maybe a couple other of our friends along the way. Most of all, thank you for teaching us how to love each other and never leave a sibling behind, no matter what situation they are in. We are going to miss you so much. Breathe easy finally. Don’t worry Ma, we’ll be fine. And please say hello to Dad and ride off on that Harley into the sunset. Visitation from 3 PM to 9 PM Thursday March 14, 2019 at the Schielka Addison Street Funeral Home 7710 W. Addison St. Chicago IL 60634. A celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment Private.
