Anthony J. Gualano

Anthony J Gualano born March 23, 1958 in Oak Park, Illinois to Ermano and Mary Gualano. Born first of his two brothers and one sister, Tony took his big brother duties very seriously and always looked out for us. Growing up at 5510 North Oscela, Tony made life long friends at Oriole Park neighborhood. He played little league, had his paper route and love to build bicycles from scraps he found. Tony could always be found laughing and making others laugh with him on neighbors porches or stoops. Shortly after Tony’s 8th grade graduation, we moved out of the city to Barrington Hills. With two acres of land, this would be where his love for motorcycles started. Though we always had fun, Tony could not wait to get his driver license to get back to the city to hang out with friends. Tony loved being outdoors, riding motocross, camping, fishing, and barbecues. He loved to cook and try new restaurants with friends. Tony was always full of life, laughter and love. During his ten year battle with cancer, he never gave up with Patti by his side, they were a fierce team. Tony was always a very proud man, never wanting to be a burden. Eventually Tony and Trixie (his beloved and crazy cat) agreed to move in with his brother Joe and family. Joe along with the team at University of Chicago Medical Center were very committed to Tony’s healthcare. After his treatments, many stays and doctors appointments at UOC he always liked to go home passing by Lake Michigan, one of his favorite places in the city. His mind never gave up, but Tony lost his battle on February 9, 2020. Tony is survived by his mother Mary Gualano, his brothers James Gualano, Joe (Sue) Gualano and sister Lisa (Daniel) Swanson, nephews Rocco, Nick Gualano, Chris Swanson and nieces Deana Swanson, Josie Gualano and many cousins. Tony had a way of making friends, that were always more like family and that he loved with all his heart. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Your light will always shine. Rest In Peace Brother. A celebration of Tony's life will be held on March 7 2020 beginning at 3 PM with a funeral service at 6 PM and ending at 7 PM at the funeral home.
