In Loving Memory of Jan Butryn July 3, 1947 – August 8, 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jan Butryn, a loving brother, devoted father, cherished uncle (wujek), and proud grandfather, who left this world peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on July 3, 1947, in Nisko (Poland), Jan was one of six children born to Maria and Jozef Butryn. He grew up in a close-knit family alongside his siblings: Tadeusz, Rozalia, Julia, Emilia, and Józef. From a young age, Jan learned the value of hard work, family loyalty, and resourcefulness—qualities that would define his entire life. He immigrated to America in pursuit of a better future and never shied away from the challenges that came with starting over. A gifted craftsman, Jan had a deep love for fixing and building things—whether it was a car engine, a piece of furniture, or something broken around the house, he could always be found with tools in hand and a solution in mind. Jan was known not just for his skill, but for his easygoing personality and quirky, unforgettable sayings—some wise, some funny, and some so uniquely “Jan” that they still echo in our memories. He had a way of making people laugh, calming any situation, and reminding everyone that life, even with its hardships, was meant to be lived with a light heart. Jan's memories will be cherished by his daughter, Margaret (Malgorzata) Blaszczyk, and her husband, Martin (Marcin) Blaszczyk. His grandchildren—Joshua, Ethan, Julia, Lucy, Riley,Sammie and Peter. Nothing made him happier than spending time with them, sharing stories, sneaking them treats, or teaching them how to fix things, just like he did. He was more than just an uncle to his niece and nephew, Tina and Paul — he was a true father figure. He is lovingly remembered by his niece, Tina, her husband Jeff Miller, and their children Zack, Ben, Emily, and Abbey, whom he affectionately called his grandkids. Jan shared a special barbecue bond with his nephew, Paul Hodowany — the two could spend hours playfully debating who was the better grill master. He is also remembered by Paul’s son, Roman Hodowany, whom Jan also considered a grandson. Jan also played a special role in the lives of his extended family. His presence was a steady, loving force across generations—a man who gave freely of his time, wisdom, and humor. Jan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hands that built not only things—but a life filled with meaning. He will be missed more than words can say, but his spirit lives on in the people he shaped, the stories he told, and the memories he gave us. I am sure Duke (dog) his best friend is waiting for him at heavens gate.
