Reverend Michael A. Valente

The Reverend Michael A. Valente was born on June 13, 1931 in Chicago to the late Vincent and Antoinette. Preceeded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ann (Joseph) Badame, his nieces Miriam, Michell, Gail Caskey and nephew Gerard (Linda) Badame. Survived by his niece Kathleen (Badame-Vaile) and Joseph Puccio. Great nieces and nephews; Shannon, Angela (Vincent Reed) Vaile, Colleen (Nicholas) DiCostanzo, Antonio Puccio, Jaclyn Caskey, Gina, Colette, Gerard Jr., Michael, David and Jeanette Gonzales. Great-great nieces and nephews Joseph and Madison Vaile, Louis, Mia, Olivia and Michael Jr. Badame, Nicholas Jr., Colin and Michaella DiCostanzo, Franklin, Isabella and Sophia Gonzales, and also Daniel Vaile.. Survived by only one classmate Father John Doyle "Class of 1958" Father had a strong vocation and was a Pro-Life advocate. He was loved by many, especially his St. Anthony Parish family.. In November 2021, the city of Joliet named Van Buren Street the Rev. Michael Valente Way for his dedication to the parish. This was made possible by his loving secretary Linda Dyke. Father was the longest serving pastor of Church of St. Anthony. Father was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on June 7, 1958, at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, Joliet, Illinois. His Parochial service was the churches of: St. Anthony, Joliet 1958-1964 Sacred Heart, Joliet 1964-1966 St. Matthew, Glendale Heights 1966-1968 St. Dominick, Bolingbrook 1968-1969 St. James, Irwin, IL 1969-1974 (Pastor) St. Anthony, Joliet 1974-1988 (Pastor) Christ the King, Lombard 1988-1994 (Pastor) St. James, Glen Ellyn 1994 (Resident Assistant) St. Petronelle, Glen Ellyn 1994 (Resident Assistant) St. Paul, Peotone 1995 (Pastor) St. John, Winfield 1996-2001 (Chaplain, Central DuPage Hospital) In Retirement 1996-2001 St. Anthony, Joliet 2011-2016 (Administrator) He was an extern Priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago from 2001- St. Genevieve, St. Priscilla, Resurrection Retirement Center and Casa San Carlo, Northlake. Father also was a bi-weekly associate for daily Mass. In addition, Father served on many occasions at; Visitation Parish, Elmhurst, Our Lady Mother of the Church, Norridge, St. Cyprian, River Grove, St. Francis Borgia Church, Chicago, St. Maria Goretti, Franklin Park and St Beatrice, Schiller Park.
